A new seal was made after the addition of Birkesweiler, Mariaweiler and Hovern to the Derichsweiler judicial area in the second half of the 16<sup>th</sup> century. The village had now its own (lower) court. The upper part showed again the lion of Jülich, and in the lower part a thistle with two other flowers. The origin of the flowers is not known. This seal has been used for a long time and when in 1965 Derichsweiler wanted to adopt arms, they were based on this seal. The arms were, however, never officially adopted by the local council.
