The arms were adopted in 2021 and were the result of a contest with nearly 100 designs. | |||
The tree with the ring is taken from the old arms, see below. The (now) 5 acorns represent the former municipalities. | |||
The red wheel is the arms of the Eichsfeld region (and is derived from the arms of the [[State of Mainz]], to which the area historically belonged. The cross also refers to Mainz as a Christian symbol. | |||
The waves in the base refer to the Unstrut river. | |||
