The municipality used in the first half of the 19th century a seal with a plough on a field, with a tree and a sun. A later seal showed a rider on horseback, and by the end of the 19th century a seal with the arms of Baden was used. | |||
A borderstone from 1622 shows a chalice, the origin of which is not known. | |||
In 1901 the State Archives from Baden proposed as arms a wheel, taken from the arms of the Counts of Kingenberg, to which the village belonged until 1488. The council did not accept this and only in 1959 decided to use the rider taken from the mid 19th century seal. One year later the arms were granted. | |||
The meaning or origin of the rider is not known. It has been speculated that the horse (Pferd) is a canting element for the middle part of the name. | |||
