Oberrimsingen was first mentioned as a village in 1275. The village belonged to Breisach and together with the city it became Austrian in 1331. As vassals first the family Von Rimsingen was mentioned, and in 1621 the village was bought by the Lords of Falkenstein. In 1805 it became part of Baden.

The first seal of the villages dates from the first half of the 19<sup>th</sup> century and shows a shield with a deer. The deer is taken from the arms of the Lords of Falkenstein, who still had some rights until 1855. The arms were devised and granted in 1907 and also show the colours of the arms of Falkenstein.
