The arms were adopted in 1901.

The arms are based on a seal of the village from 1719, when the seal was made, however, is not known. The seal already shows a shield with a hare's head with three stars, the shield flanked by two palm leaves and as a crest a resting lion with again three stars.
The village was at the time part of the Pfalz region, the lion therefore is most likely the lion of the Pfalz. The meaning of the hare or the stars is not known.
On a seal from the middle of the 19th century the lion and the palm leaves have disappeared. The municipality adopted the design of this 19th century seal as arms as was proposed by the State Archives of Baden. The colours are those of the Bavarian rulers of the Wittelsbach family, to which the Pfalz area historically belonged.
