===Origin/meaning===
Schramberg grew as a village around the local castle. It became a town in 1547 and a city in 1867. The village was first owned by a local Lord, but later it became an Austrian possession. In 1805 it was incorporated into Württemberg. The Austrians had their own vassals ruling the area.
