The Operational School (Opschool), which was put into service on December 10, 1976 in Den Helder, arose from the Submarine Warfare School (harpoon), Navigation-Battle Information School (steering wheel), Liaison School (lightning bolt) and Artillery School (gun barrel). In the emblem, attributes have been taken from the emblems of these 4 schools. The Motto refers to the purpose of the Opschool. In 1984, the School for Ships NCOs was also included in this school.
