The arms were granted on October 24, 1927.
The arms were granted on October 24, 1927.

Bödefeld was a possession of the Counts of Arnsberg until 1368. From then on until 1806 it was ruled by the Bishops of Köln. The arms show in the lower part the eagle of[[arnsberg|Arnsberg]] and the cross of Köln. The two figures are the saints Cosmas and Damianus, the patron saints of the town. The combination of the two saints and the eagle and cross already appears on the first seal of the town, which dates from 1342. All later seals and arms show the same combination.
