Origin/meaning

The oldest seal of the town dates from 1340 and showed the image of St. Alto, the patron saint of the local Abbey to which the town belonged. In the 16th century the small shield with the fleur-de-lis was added. In the 19th century the Abbey itself was added to the composition.
