The arms were granted in 1962 and again on June 16, 1978, with the change of the green tree in a blue tree.
The arms were granted in 1962 and again on June 16, 1978, with the change of the green tree in a blue tree.

The tree is a canting ash (Esche) tree. The new blue colour is derived from the old colours of Herbern, gold and blue. The division line indicates the former fortifications in the area. The three balls are derived from the arms of the Lords of Davensberg, who played a major role in the local history.
