The arms were officially granted on April 10, 1980.

The arms show a fox (Fuchs in German), a canting symbol for the medieval family Fuchs von Bimbach, who owned the village of Burgpreppach for a long time. The division line symbolises the castle of the family in the municipality. The wheel is a water mill wheel and symbolises the many water mills in the Preppach river in historical times. The silver and red colours are those of the Lords von Wetzhausen, who ruled several areas in the present municipality. The division line symbolises the Preppach river itself. The base with the castle (Burg) and river Preppach thus forms a canting element.
