The arms were devised after the mergers in 1974. The arms whould represent all former municipalities. The sword and the crosier refer to the numerous lords and abbeys that owned parts of the area during the centuries. The ammonite refers to the fossil-rich chalk soil.

====Official blazon====
The previous arms were granted on August 10, 1967.

====Origin/meaning====
The watermill wheel refers to the local Bliesmühle. The fleur-de-lys is a symbol for St. Mary and refers to the Marienhof estate in the village. The base symbolises the Rippelfelder, a chalk formation in the area. Rippel means wave, hence the wavy lines.
