The arms show an image of a Holy Family (taken from a terracotta bas-relief of the 18th century) which refers to the efforts made over the years by the bishop in the field of family pastoral care. The golden Archangel Raphael is a symbol for the Diocese of Parma, a medieval work placed at the top of the bell tower of Parma Cathedral. | |||
In the lower part, in the center, stands the cross of San Geminiano, first bishop of Modena, a reference to Modena, from which the Bishop of Parma comes. | |||
The colors are the colours of both cities of Modena and Parma. | |||
The motto "In nomine Domini" means "In the name of the Lord". | |||
