The arms were used by the whole city since 1747. The horse is the horse of the State of Braunschweig (see the arms of the State Niedersachsen), now with saddle and reins. The great arms show two angels as supporters, the one on the left side dressed in the black and white of Hohenzollern, the right one in the red and gold of Braunschweig.
