The shield symbolizes culture, climatic conditions and industrial development and is made up of three colors and five historically significant elements in the city of Mexicali. | |||
At the top of the shield is an anagram that says (MEXI/CALI) separated by a line representing the international division between Mexico and California. | |||
The phrase "Tierra Cálida" refers to the warmth of the population and the climatic conditions of the care of Mexicali. The latter is also symbolised by the red sun. | |||
