The arms were granted on November 6, 1986.
The arms were granted on November 6, 1986.

These arms are canting, and refer to the thermalism in the town; actually, there are several thermal springs and spas in Caldes de Malavella, and even some well-preserved roman baths. The arms show two "calderes" (Catalan for "boiling-pots, cauldrons") and a nude woman rising from a bath-tube. Traditionally, in the arms there was an ugly old woman (literal translation of "mala vella"), but nowadays the official arms show curiously the opposite, a pretty young woman.
