===Origin/meaning===
===Origin/meaning===
The squirrel refers to the forests that surround the village. The tower is taken from the arms of the Salles family, former lords of the village. The stones are the symbol for St. Stephen, the local patron saint. They are arranged in the shape of a V, the initial of the village.
The arms were first adopted on ? and changed on February 5, 2024.

The squirrel in the previous arms refers to the forests that surround the village. The tower is taken from the arms of the Salles family, former lords of the village. The stones are the symbol for St. Stephen, the local patron saint. They are arranged in the shape of a V, the initial of the village.

In the new arms from 2024 the squirrel was replaced by a gourd and a sword. The gourd is a symbol of pilgrimage and refers to Isabelle, mother of Joan of Arc, because she would have made a pilgrimage to Rome or, more likely to Le Puy. Isabelle was probably born in Vouthon. The sword, engraved with 5 crosses, represents the one that Joan of Arc would have had given to her mother at the chapel of Fierbois.
