The Buff Field, the main Colour of Quartermaster Units, indicates origin of the Battalion as the 2nd Division Quartermaster Train. The Bend is taken from the arms of [[Lorraine]] alludes to service in this Province during World War I. The Gear Wheel in the Crest symbolises Motor Transport and the Horse's  Head Horse-drawn Transport.

It was redesignated for the 2nd Quartermaster Regiment on 1 April 1936 and for the 2nd Quartermaster Battalion on 26 February 1940. It was rescinded on 4 August 1958. It was reinstated and redesignated for the 2nd Supply and Transport Battalion on 22 April 1963. Redesignated for the 2nd Support Battalion on 16 October 1989.
