The upper part of the arms show sthe three points of the Franken region (Fränkische Rechen), as a symbol for the Fulda monastery, which received the village in 860 from Count Erpho of Franken. The lower half shows a pair of scales, symbol for St. Michael, the patron siant of the former Benedictan convent in Veilsdorf. The colours gold and black of the lower half are the colours of [[Coburg]], as the village in the19th century was owned by Coburg.
