English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1924 and newly devised.
The golden shield with the black bar is derived from the arms of the Lords of Moers. The green quarter with the wavy bend symbolises the Rhein river and is derived from the arms of the Prussian Rheinland province.
The only historical seal of the town dates from the 15th century and shows the patron saint, St. Jacob.
