Tatransk&eacute; Zruby and [[Nový Smokovec]] are part of the historical municipality of Veľk&yacute; Slavkov. The seal of this municipality showed the local patron saint, St. Andrew. Thus for both villages a quartered shield, symbolising the cross of St. Andrew was chosen. As Tatransk&eacute; Zruby was founded as a sanatorium for the army, two swords were placed on the cross.
