The arms show in the lower part the eagle of[[arnsberg|Arnsberg]] and the cross of Köln. The two figures are the saints Cosmas and Damianus, the patron saints of the town. The combination of the two saints and the eagle and cross already appears on the first seal of the town, which dates from 1342. All later seals and arms show the same combination.
