The arms are based on the two oldest seals of the city, known from the 15<sup>th</sup> century. In 1811 the arms were also used as shown above, in 1819 new arms were adopted, showing a quartered shield with the first and fourth quarter showing in green a wavy bar, and the other two quarters were again quartered from silver and blue.
