The arms were officially granted on January 16, 1990.


The proposal from 1956:
The chief shows the head of the lion of [[Nassau]], as the village was first mentioned in 1132 as a possession of the Counts of Lauenburg (later of Nassau).
 
The area of the current municipality historically belonged to the Counts of Nassau, and the States of [[State of Trier|Trier]] and [[State of Mainz|Mainz]]. The colours are those of Nassau (gold/blue) and Trier and Mainz (silver/red). The cross is the symbol of trier, the wheel the symbol of Mainz.
 
The three oak leaves symbolise the three villages of Welterod, Strüth and Lipporn, as well as the forests in the municipality.
