The arms show an image of the village itself, around the church of Sant Joan. At the bottom, the mountains of Pic-en-Cel. Vilada belonged, since the 14<sup>th</sup> century, to the barons of La Portella (symbolized by their arms, a pouch) and later to the Pinós family (represented by the pine cone).
