These arms have been officially granted on 25th April 2001.
These arms have been officially granted on 25th April 2001.

The arms show the benedictine abbey of Sant Cugat del Vallès (11th century), the most important monastery in the county of Barcelona, erected in memory of the African martyr Cugat (or Cucuphas, 4th century), beheaded in that place. The town developed aside the monastery, and had its own parish church, Sant Pere d'Octavià (represented here by the keys of St. Peter behind the monastery). Finally, the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) remind the privileges that the count-kings granted to the town (as, for instance, having a fair and a weekly market).
