The waves are symbolizing coast and sea, grapes and ears of grain are symbolizing the cultures of vine and grain, finally the fruits of cactus are symbolizing the production of a red colour, used e.g. for lipsticks and as a food colour (E124), which is made by grinding the cochenille-lice.
