As there were no historical seals or arms known for the municipality, the arms were designed in 1957.


====Origin/meaning====
The red bend is taken from the arms of the Von Schnellenberg family. They owned an estate in the village from the 13th until the 18<sup>th</sup> century as vassals of the Archbishops of Köln. The last owner was Carl Friedrich Adolph von Schnellenberg zu Schönholthausen in the middle of the 18<sup>th</sup> century.

The green oak leaves are taken as a canting element for the -holt (=holz=wood) part of the name.
