SALTVIK

Region : Åland (Ahvenanmaa)
Former province : Åland

Saltvik Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

  • (se) I rött fält två liljor av guld, åtskilda av sänkt mantelskura med guldvatten.
  • (fi) Kilpi alaisen harjakoron jakama punaiseen ja kultaan, punaisessa kentässä kaksi kultaliljaa vieretysten.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 9, 1952.

The point refer to the inlet/fjord, which divides the island in West- and East Saltvik. The two fleur-de-lys are the symbol of St. Mary, the patron saint of the local medieval (13th century) church.
