This composition of a man standing towards a wall (?) is already seen on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1492. The seal has been used until 1580 and again in the 19th century. In between the village used the letters A and M (Amt Madenburg) and three stars on its seals. The meaning of the man is not known, although a canting element (from Arz-Heim) can not be excluded.
