A silver field with red chevron charged with two golden lions signify a (non related) O’Flanagan family of Drumdoe, Ireland, to which the bishop may be related.
The red pinecones are from the arms of St. [[Roberto Francesco Romulo Bellarmino|Robert Bellarmine]], the patron saint of the bishop.
