LANGENBERG

State: Thüringen
Urban District (Stadtkreis): Gera
Incorporated into: 1950 Gera

Wappen von Langenberg (Gera)/Arms (crest) of Langenberg (Gera)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 8, 1934. In 1938 the arms were changed as the lion was holding a swastika. This was again removed in 1945.

I have no image of the arms with the swastika, only a seal:

Wappen von Langenberg (Gera)/Arms (crest) of Langenberg (Gera)

The upper half shows the lion of Reuss (see also Gera), the lower the arms of the Lords von Eichicht, who ruled the village for around 300 years.

Until 1933 arms show a crane, taken from the Lords of Kranichfeld. Due to succession, the crane later was taken by the Counts of Reuss, as the village was part of the County of Reuss.

Wappen von Langenberg (Gera)/Coat of arms (crest) of Langenberg (Gera)

Seal from the city from around 1900.
Wappen von Langenberg (Gera)/Coat of arms (crest) of Langenberg (Gera)

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925
