Origin/meaningThe arms were granted on August 6, 1954. The dragon is taken from the arms of the Münz family. It is also a symbol of Siegfried, the hero from the Niebelungenlied, one of Germany's most famous medieval stories. The vine is a symbol of the winegrowing in the area. The upper part of the shield, with the three arches, symbolises the bridge over the Rhine.
