Niederstetten received city rights in 1340 from Emperor Ludwig of Bayern. The oldest seals date from the late 16<sup>th</sup> century and already show a composition of a walled city with in the gate the arms of the Lords of Rosenberg, vassals of the city for the Bishops of Würzburg.
