In the village is dubbed "sídlo Přemilovo" meaning "Přemil's seat", from when the modern name likely stems. In 1228 it belonged to the Benedictine St. George's Convent in Prague. It then fell under the lands of Libštejn castle. After its demise, it was replaced by a fort in Liblín. On the 8th of April 1904 Emperor Franz Joseph I. raised the village to the status of "městys" aka "market town".
