Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 27, 1964.
The village was for many centuries one of the places were a regional court was held. This took place under the old linden tree, which after many centuries was felled in 1945. The linden and the sword symbolise this court. The court was established by the Bishop of Halberstadt in 1051 and was held for many centuries. The arms were also used by the (former) Samtgemeinde Sickte at the same time, which caused some problems. As the arms of Obersickte became obsolete in 1974 the arms are now only used by the Samtgemeinde.
