BOGEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Straubing-Bogen (until 1973 Bogen)
Additions: 1972 Bogenberg, Degernbach; 1978 Oberalteich (1974 Agendorf)

Wappen von Bogen/Arms (crest) of Bogen
Official blazon
German In Blau ein goldener Bogen mit silberner Sehne über einem sechsstrahligen goldenen Stern.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted by the Dukes of Bayern on January 29, 1461.

The bow in the upper half of the arms is a canting element (Bogen=bow). The star is most likely an older village symbol. The colours are those of the Counts of Bogen and their successors, the Dukes of Bayern.
