LIEDEKERKE
Province : Vlaams-Brabant
Official blazon
- (1951) Van keel met drie gouden leeuwen, genageld en getongd van lazuur
- (1993) In keel drie leeuwen van goud, geklauwd en getongd van lazuur
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 15, 1951 and again on March 1, 1993.
The three lions are derived from the arms of the oldest known Lords of Liedekerke, dating from the 12th century. The family held the estate until 1190, but all later families owning the estate used the arms with the three lions as arms of Liedekerke. The arms also appeared on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1326.
