The arms were granted on April 6, 1444 from Anton von Rotenhan, Prince-Bishop of Bamberg. The arms show a church with nine towers, hence a canting element (the name could mean nine churches). On the front tower the patron saint, St. Michael is shown. In front of the church stands a small shield with the arms of the State of Bamberg.
