SANKT STEFAN OB LEOBEN

State : Steiermark
District : Leoben

Wappen von Sankt Stefan ob Leoben

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 23, 1970.

The fortress stands for Kaisersberg castle which lies in the municipality. The hill shows an mine entrance, because graphite is mined in St. Stefan. The ship's propeller commemorates the Schwarzenberg foundry where the propeller invented by Josef Ressel was first tested in 1828.
