The arms are apocryphal arms of the medieval Knights von Poppendorf (known until the 11th century). When the municipality adopted the arms in 1958 there was a long discussion with the State Archives in Steiermark on the actual position of the hoopoe, hence it took until 1959 for the arms to be granted. | |||
