The badge is in the Colours of the Military Medal (Dexter Side) and War Cross (Sinister side) indicating the sufferings of World War I. The Voie Sacrée (or Sacred Road) was the Road on whoch reinforcement was brought forward to stop the German Advancement in 1914. the Sword indicates the Officers of the Promotion and the Grenade is the Badge of the Special Military School.
