BAGNES
Canton : Wallis/Valais
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms of Bagnes show two people in a bathtub (which is a canting symbol) under two stars and a sun. The symbol first appeared on a coin from 1498, but without the sun and stars. The stars and sun appear only in the early 20th century on the arms as used by the municipality. Their meaning is not known. During the centuries the people and the coulours have changed regularly. It has been two men, two women or (probably) children. The field has also been red, with golden figures.
