BAUERBACH

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Schmalkalden-Meiningen
Incorporated into : 2012 Grabfeld

Wappen von Bauerbach/Arms (crest) of Bauerbach
Official blazon
German

In Gold, über schwarzen Schildfuss mit Wellenschnitt, ein nach rechts schreitender, schwarz gekleideter Mann in Bäuerlicher Tracht, in der rechten Hand einen Stock haltend.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 22, 1992.

The arms are based on the old village seal from 1855. It already shows the canting composition of a farmer (Bauer) and a river (Bach). Although generally seen as a farmer, the figure may also have been a judge or similar, due to the stick, which has been interpreted as a judge's staff.

The colours are taken from those of the Counts of Henneberg, whose castle was only a few killometers from the village.
