UNTERIBENTAL

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald (until 1973 Freiburg)
Incorporated into : 1975 Buchenbach

Wappen von Unteribental
Official blazon
German In Blau ein pfahlweis gestellter silberner Schlüssel, Bart links.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1902 based on a proposal of the State Archives.

The key represents the St. Peter Abbey, as the area in medieval times belonged to the Abbey.

Unteribental became a separate municipality in 1827 and in the 19th century the municipality used a seal with a tree and the letters U I. As there were several municipalities in the area using a similar design, the State Archives proposed the arms with the key.

Siegel von Unteribental

Seal from the 19th century
