State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Emsland (until 1977 Meppen)
Additions: 1971 Dalum, Osterbrock; 1974 Bienerfeld-Nord, Bramhar, Groß Hesepe (1968 Klein Hesepe), Varloh
German | In Grün ein schräglinker silberner Wellenbalken, begleitet oben von einem silbernen Bohrturm, unten von einem achtspeichigen silbernen Wagenrad.
Origin/meaningThe arms show a silver wavy bend for the Ems river, that flows through the municipality. The green colour symbolises the agricultural character of the municipality. The oil pumping tower symbolises the oilfields in the municipality, which have been operational for over 40 years. The wheel also symbolises agriculture; the eight spokes symbolise the eight villages in the municipality.
