Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 18, 2003.

The base of the arms symbolises the Schlei river on which the municipality is situated. The green colour symbolises the name of the municipality, which is erived from old Danish and means 'village in the meadows'. The wheat-ear symbolises the (former) importance of agriculture, the two sails the new importance of sailing and tourism for the municipality.
