WERDER

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Hildesheim
Incorporated into : 1974 Bockenem

Wappen von Werder (Bockenem)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of the Wohldenberg family, Lords of the village from the 11th century until 1383, when the last Count of Wohldenberg died. The arms showed three pales. The two wavy bars symbolise the Netter river that once surrounded the village, but now the river has only one bed.
