Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 15, 1845.

The arms combine the lion of the Pfalz, to which the village historically belonged, with a knife used for cutting grapes. Viticulture was the main economic activity in the village. The composition appears already on the oldest known seal of the village, known since 1568. Although the Bavarian State Herald in 1845 proposed more designs, the King granted the historical composition.
