Origin/meaning
The arms show an escutcheon with the arms of the Grimaldi family, the ruling dynasty of the Princes of Monaco. The Grimaldi family built in the 12th or 13th century a tower in Mur de Barrez, which is called the Grimaldi tower. The arms thus combine the tower with the arms of the family.
